We are seeking a highly motivated Account Manager to join our growing and successful SLED team. In this role you will focus on increasing market share in for Proofpoint products primarily in the Public Sector market segment, with some accounts in education as well. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering web based and onsite product demos. As a Public Sector Account Manager you will be converting prospects into sales by differentiating Proofpoint from the competition.
Proactively and aggressively target University, Junior College and local government accounts in your assigned territory
Identify and pursue prospect accounts through a mix of cold calling, government bid lists and teaming up with our Channel Partners to build pipeline and drive revenue targets
Work with System Engineers to prepare account strategies and plans, as well as to execute product demonstrations and Proof of Concept (POC) engagements
Prepare activity and forecast reports as requested
Prepare and execute a thorough business plan
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Proofpoint's competitive positioning in the marketplace
Meet or exceed revenue quota
May require modified schedule (work hours) to align with the target market
May require travel within the target market
May require modified hours to cover other time zones in assigned territory
What you bring to the team
4 Years of sales experience selling complex software solutions
Experience selling security/IT solutions and/or SLED (State, Local, Education) sales strongly preferred
Proven track record of sustained success/over-achievement in a sales role
Technical aptitude and strong work ethic
Ability to learn new concepts quickly
Positive attitude and presentation skills
Strong sales acumen, preferably with an established sales methodology such as SPIN, Challenger, Miller Heiman, or similar method
Up to 30% Travel
